The Eid al-Fitr & Eid al-Adha food culture
Eid al-Fitr — the festival that closes Ramadan — is the busiest social day of the year in most Mappila households. Family and friends visit through the day; the host serves continuously; what's on the table has to be small, beautiful, and easy to keep replenishing. Maamoul, Kozhi Ada, halwa and strong Sulaimani chaya are the staples; everything else is supporting cast.
Two months later, Eid al-Adha (the festival of sacrifice) shifts the emphasis from gifting to meat-centred meals — but the hospitality structure is similar, and the snack hampers we ship still anchor the spread.
Most of our Eid hamper volume goes from Gulf-based customers (Dubai, Doha, Riyadh, Kuwait City) to family in Kerala. The order-flow is concentrated: roughly 70% of Eid orders ship in the last two weeks before the festival. Order one to two weeks ahead for safest delivery.
What to order for Eid al-Fitr & Eid al-Adha
- Eid premium hamper — The default — Maamoul, Kozhi Ada, Sulaimani chaya, handwritten note.
- Maamoul gift box — Standalone gifting; long shelf life; the most universally appropriate single item.
- Kozhi Ada (bulk) — For hosting larger Eid gatherings — order frozen, reheat through the day.
- Sulaimani chaya tin — A small additional gift; the traditional drink for breaking fast and welcoming guests.
- Custom corporate hamper — For 25+ recipient orders to colleagues or clients during the Eid window.

Common questions — Eid al-Fitr & Eid al-Adha
When should I order Eid hampers?
One to two weeks before Eid for safest delivery. Earlier is better for Eid al-Fitr (which immediately follows Ramadan and has compressed lead time). What's the difference between Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha hampers?
Eid al-Fitr (March/April) hampers emphasise sweet items — Maamoul, halwa, banana-coconut sweets — because the festival itself follows a month of fasting and sweet items dominate the table. Eid al-Adha (June) hampers tend to be more savoury-heavy because the festival centres on a meat-based main meal. Are the meat items in the Eid hamper halal?
Our halal certification status will be published on the About and Contact pages once the audit is complete. Until then, please ask before ordering meat-based items. Can I send Eid hampers to multiple addresses from one order?
Yes — write to us via the Contact page for multi-address Eid orders (e.g. one hamper to each of several family addresses). We handle these manually and confirm by email.Do you have Eid Mubarak gift notes?
Yes — written by hand on Calicut Cravings stationery. Specify your message at checkout.
